What I loved most about Donkey Kong Country

There are many games I love from past console generations gone by but none more so then the classic Donkey Kong Country games for the Super Nintendo. Their is so much history and nostalgia to the franchise and for the time that this game was released the game was artistically the most wonderful game to look at. Though further then this it was the level design that stood out above all else. Yes we did often see the same level over and over again in the sense of background and ideas but it didn’t matter we had fun doing this over and over again. More importantly is what I loved though, I remember a time when water was a killer in video games and had to be avoided and even in 2010’s Donkey Kong Country Returns for the Wii water was deadly. This leads into what I truly love most, the fun water levels of Donkey Kong Country provided such beautiful level design and locations on top of a musical score that just couldn’t be beat, then add the swordfish enguarde and you had an excellent level that was built entirely out of swimming. I remember it well and still love it I just hope that retro studios can recapture that nostalgia in Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze.
