3DS owners beware the upcoming Super Smash Brothers for 3DS could do more harm for your system then good. Earlier this week Super Smash Brothers for 3DS launched in Japan and as we know a lot of Japanese gamers have bought and are currently playing the game however they are currently experiencing a number issues with the 3DS. Now this isn’t to do with the systems inner workings it instead is the fact the game is doing harm to the circle pad, I believe this is a case of the stress a lot of players are putting on the system. According to reports this issue is mostly affecting the original model of 3DS, there have also been a few reports of similar things happening with the XL model, as it stands though there have been no reports about the 2DS facing the same issue. The problem the game is apparently causing is that the circle pad rubber top is being destroyed from over use or from rough play and has been disconnecting itself from the console. There have also been reports of the plastic part underneath the rubber component of the circle pad coming off also. So if you are planning on buying Super Smash Brothers on the 3DS heed caution and be as careful as possible with the circle pad while playing and don’t be to rough.
Of course it is a good thing these reports are coming out now so that we can be cautious with the game, however I also feel this could possibly hurt sales of the game because of this issue but only time will tell.
You know what I think Sakurai is trying to get quite a bit of male attention in Super Smash Brothers for the Wii U and 3DS as today’s picture is quite well suggesting. While strictly Sakurai is explaining that Smash Brothers will feature some alternate costumes for Zero Suit Samus I can’t help but have my own thoughts turn towards what many males will be thinking, trust me I have read enough random game articles to know primarily that people believe that Zero Suit Samus is one of the most attractive Video Game characters constantly insinuated by the nice personality references made about the character. So here is Sakurai’s latest picture of the day for you to see and I am certain if you are a male stare at.
Pic of the day. Looking at the number of days we have left for development, it would be an impossible task to create this… That’s what I told my staff. But thanks to the determination of her female designer, these Zero Suit outfits got completed in time. From the ending of Metroid: Zero Mission, here’s Samus in shorts!
See do you see what I am talking about. I know this costume decision is strictly because of a Metroid game reference but still it is an interesting costume choice that I didn’t see coming particularly from Nintendo. I now wonder what is next?
Just the other day during one of Sakurai’s picture’s of the day he showed off Mii Fighters and how they can be disguised to a minor extent as other characters, one of these characters shown was Samus an original character and Meta Knight a character that appeared in Brawl but had yet to be confirmed for the new game. However this picture did lead to speculation about Meta Knight appearing in the game and they would be correct as the official Smash Brothers website has now been updated to include Meta Knight as a returning character which for Meta Knight fans is a great thing. The one thing wonder though is whether Meta Knight will be banned once again from competition still to the day I have no clue why he was banned in the first place as he has no moves that I would classify as bad or uneven.
Sakurai has made no secret of the two versions of Smash Brothers having varying content. We already know that while we will be seeing the same characters between all versions of the game we also know that stages are set to be different between each version. With today’s picture from the 3DS version of Smash Brothers Sakurai has elaborated on some of the similarities in both version in the way of stages in his message. As usual Sakurai has passed on today’s picture of the day with this following message:
Pic of the day. In general, there are completely different stages in the 3DS and Wii U version, but we made Wily Castle and the special boxing ring available for both versions! We didn’t forget the Yellow Devil either. There may be some small differences in the stages, such as the 3DS stage appearing to be during daylight hours.
It is good to know that not all stages have been made different games and perhaps this choice to have Wily Castle stage to do with MegaMan and the boxing ring is just because they needed special or specific stages between games for a special reason. This could be argued that they needed a stage that fully represented the characters that they could use for things such as boss battles and other such things, maybe also the boxing ring is just a main course in the game and Wily’s Castle was the best representation for MegaMan.
On top of a group of characters the Smash Brothers games have always had a select group of points in the game that remain the same with each entry. One such point is the ship from Star Fox which has appeared as a stage in the original Super Smash Brothers as well as Melee and also a returning stage in Brawl and today’s picture of the day teases said stage returning for old and new fans to enjoy. The following message and the picture was passed along by Sakurai:
Pic of the day. Here’s the Great Fox from Star Fox: Assault. I wonder what missions it will conduct. It’ll probably have fighters running around on top of it without the pilot’s consent.
The Great Fox is one of my favourite stages from Super Smash Brothers and if it does actually return I will be very happy, it has always been enjoyable to play on and the ships flying around have been quite fun to see and try to smack opponents into. Though I do see this as a likely returning stage even if it comes in a new form.
Super Smash Brothers is certainly unique and the way it takes the characters and the abilities from their original source material and translates it over to a big fun fighting game is certainly interesting, however as today’s picture represents the abilities given to a character don’t have to have existed in their own game as is the case with an attack performed by Robin in the new Smash Brothers. Sakurai has delivered the following picture and this message of the day:
Pic of the day. Robin’s Nosferatu is the first ability in the Smash Bros. series that recovers your damage as it gives damage to others. The attack becomes even stronger if you strike from behind! Robin doesn’t actually use this ability in the original game, but we added that element to make the character unique. Who knows–the ideas we use in this game may contribute to the original series.
The way the wording sounds suggests that Sakurai is hoping that Intelligent Systems might take advice from Smash Brothers for a future ability for a character, not to mention it is great to see a new ability presented to a character that can provide a different experience for the player. We can also look at this ability as a good way at performing a strategy to keep yourself strong while your opponent gets weaker as long as you can perform it. Either way it is nice to see a difference in abilities.
If there is one game I have been anxiously waiting for a release date for it is Super Smash Brothers and no I do not mean the 3DS version which had a release date announced, no I mean the really good one being made for the Wii U. The release date may have actually just been leaked for the upcoming game by a Gamestop manager. Apparently the release date for the new Smash Brothers has been leaked to My Nintendo News specifying that each copy of Super Smash Brothers will come with an Amiibo figure and also the game will be released on November 21st. The manger in question and has chosen to remain anonymous and at this point in time it is truly impossible to tell whether this is true or false. So at this point the details are merely rumours but part of me is hoping that the release date is correct so I can have two great games to play on the same day even though this will most likely end up collecting dust until I am done with Pokémon Omega Ruby.
I will bring you any details about this being true or false as they arrive.
